About Ashley Legel, MSW, LCSW
Clinical Social Worker | Trauma-Informed Care | Advocate for Mental Health
Throughout her career, Ashley has had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan, with a specific focus on young adults to individuals aged 65. She has worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient mental health clinics and in-home therapy for individuals on the autism spectrum. Notably, Ashley has also served as an advocate at a trauma center, helping children and their non-offending caregivers navigate the complex emotional and legal terrain following experiences of sexual and physical abuse.
Most recently Ashley was employed at a community mental health outpatient clinic, where she provided treatment for children and adults living with severe and persistent mental illness. In addition to clinical work, Ashley is deeply committed to supporting the next generation of mental health professionals, offering guidance to new therapists in the process of obtaining licensure and addressing issues like burnout and fatigue.
With over three years of experience as a clinical social worker, Ashley is dedicated to supporting individuals through some of life’s most challenging moments. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Central Michigan University and a Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University, Ashley is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Informed Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused approaches. Motivated by a belief in healing through connection, Ashley is dedicated to helping clients reclaim their strength and resilience.
A core tenet of Ashley’s practice is grounding clients in the therapy process, using somatic approaches to help individuals reconnect with their bodies and emotions. Whether through mindfulness, body-awareness techniques, or focused breathing, Ashley helps clients integrate the mind-body connection as part of their healing journey. This approach is particularly effective for individuals with trauma histories or those experiencing anxiety, depression, or other mood disorders, as it allows them to feel more anchored and empowered in their daily lives.
