Healing takes time, curiosity, and compassion.

That’s why we meet you exactly where you are, using an integrative approach to therapy and your wellbeing as a whole that fits your unique story, instead of trying to fit you into a single model of care.

Our goal is to help you develop insight, awareness, and tools that continue to serve you long after therapy ends–so you can navigate life with more clarity, confidence, and connection.

As a teaching clinic, we extend that same philosophy to our clinicians, too; mentoring the next generation of therapists to think holistically, work integratively, and deliver care that creates real, lasting change.

An Integrative Approach to Healing

We draw from various approaches to create a therapy experience that is layered, intentional, and designed for whole-person healing.

  • Psychodynamic therapy explores the deeper emotional and unconscious patterns that influence behavior, thoughts, and relationships. At Michigan Wellbeing, we use this approach to help clients understand how past experiences and unresolved conflicts shape their current lives. Through reflective exploration and a strong therapeutic relationship, clients gain insight into recurring patterns, develop self-awareness, and work toward meaningful change.

  • At Michigan Wellbeing, we recognize that relationships lie at the heart of emotional well-being, identity, and resilience. Attachment-based and relational therapy focus on how early relationships and attachment styles shape our emotional responses, self-perception, and capacity for connection. Through a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, we explore how these patterns show up in present-day interactions and emotional experiences. By addressing relational wounds, building trust, and fostering emotional safety, clients can develop greater self-awareness, healthier communication skills, and deeper, more fulfilling connections with themselves and others. This approach offers a path toward healing past hurts, breaking unhelpful patterns, and creating meaningful, authentic relationships.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a structured, evidence-based approach designed to help clients regulate emotions, improve relationships, and build resilience. At Michigan Wellbeing, we guide clients through core DBT skills, including mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. This approach is especially effective for those navigating intense emotions, impulsivity, or relational challenges, providing practical tools for managing life’s difficulties.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy focuses on building secure, lasting emotional bonds between individuals, couples, and families. At Michigan Wellbeing, EFT is used to help clients identify and address underlying emotional needs, break negative interaction patterns, and create deeper connections. By exploring and restructuring emotional responses, EFT supports clients in building trust, intimacy, and resilience in their relationships.

  • At Michigan Wellbeing, we utilize a holistic approach to emotional regulation and healing through Polyvagal Therapy, Somatic Work (Somatic Experiencing), and the Safe and Sound Protocol. These therapies focus on working directly with the body’s autonomic nervous system to promote safety, balance, and connection.

Polyvagal Therapy supports the nervous system in shifting out of survival states into states of calm and connection. Somatic work helps clients release stored tension and trauma in the body, fostering emotional and physical relief. The Safe and Sound Protocol uses specially filtered music to regulate the nervous system and enhance emotional resilience.

These methods work together to create a comprehensive path to well-being, offering clients a deep sense of safety, connection, and present-moment awareness.

  • At Michigan Wellbeing, we use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients build psychological flexibility and live in alignment with their core values. ACT focuses on accepting difficult emotions and thoughts rather than struggling against them while committing to actions that lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life. By integrating mindfulness practices and behavior-focused strategies, ACT empowers clients to navigate challenges with clarity and purpose.

  • At Michigan Wellbeing, we embrace the concept of neurodiversity, recognizing and celebrating the unique ways individuals experience and interact with the world. Whether you or your child has ADHD, AuDHD, autism, learning differences, or giftedness, we offer tailored therapeutic approaches that focus on leveraging strengths and addressing challenges. Through a combination of evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and specialized neuro-affirmative strategies, we support my clients in reaching their full potential.

  • Parenting a neurodiverse child is an emotional journey filled with unique challenges and profound rewards. Our neuro-affirmative parent training is designed to equip parents with practical tools and strategies to support their child’s development in a positive and affirming manner. We provide comprehensive guidance on effective communication, enhancing executive functioning skills, and adopting collaborative parenting approaches that strengthen family bonds. By fostering a nurturing environment that values and understands your child, we create a space for them to thrive with confidence and connection.

  • Executive function skills—including planning, organizing, time management, self-control, emotional regulation, and sustained attention—are essential for navigating everyday tasks effectively. These skills are often impacted in neurodiverse children and adults, affecting their ability to succeed in academic, professional, and personal settings.

At Michigan Wellbeing, we offer targeted executive function training to help individuals with ADHD, AuDHD, autism, and other neurodiverse conditions develop these crucial abilities. Through structured exercises, practical strategies, and personalized coaching, we empower clients to improve their organizational skills, task management, and emotional regulation. This training not only enhances independence and confidence but also significantly supports academic and vocational success.

  • Family therapy is designed to address the complexities of family dynamics and improve communication and relationships within the family unit. At Michigan Wellbeing, we work collaboratively with families to navigate conflicts, understand habitual relational patterns, and build stronger, more supportive connections.

Our approach incorporates psychodynamic family therapy, which delves into the underlying emotional and psychological processes that influence family interactions. By exploring unconscious patterns, past experiences, and internal conflicts, we help families better understand how these factors impact current relationships and behaviors. This deep exploration supports families in recognizing and transforming maladaptive patterns, fostering healthier, more adaptive dynamics.

  • Family Systems Therapy and Internal Family Systems both emphasize the interconnectedness of individuals within their relational and internal systems. At Michigan Wellbeing, these approaches address how family dynamics, internal roles, and emotional patterns impact individual and group well-being. Family Systems Therapy explores family dynamics, communication patterns, and relational roles, while Internal Family Systems focuses on the inner world of thoughts, emotions, and parts of the self. Both approaches provide tools for navigating relational conflict, fostering harmony, and building emotional resilience.

  • Couples therapy at Michigan Wellbeing is designed to help partners navigate conflict, improve communication, and deepen emotional intimacy. Our therapists use evidence-based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method, to address challenges such as trust issues, recurring arguments, and emotional distance. Through open dialogue and guided exercises, couples develop tools to build healthier, more connected partnerships.

holistic methods

Addressing the root causes of stress, fatigue, and emotional imbalance often requires more than talk therapy.

When we bring together the wisdom of holistic health and the structure of evidence-based mental health care, we create space for deeper, more sustainable transformation.

Rooted in our comprehensive approach to care, our clinicians take every facet of your experience into account and integrate herbal support, nutrition-informed guidance, healing practices inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine, and deeper insight through Human Design to support your healing process. These practices are designed to complement therapy work, offering a more complete and personalized path to wellbeing.

What we value most in our work together:

depth, not surface level

We believe real healing takes more than managing symptoms. We look beneath the surface to understand the roots of a person’s challenges, so growth can be lasting, not temporary.

Education & Growth

We’re a teaching clinic at heart, committed to raising the bar for mental health care in Michigan. By training the next generation of clinicians and continually expanding our own knowledge, we strive to strengthen the wellbeing of the entire community.

Integrative Innovation

We bring together a range of therapeutic modalities–evidence-based, holistic, and forward-thinking–to create care that’s both personalized and effective. Innovation for us isn’t about trends; it’s about always learning, evolving, and finding what truly works for each client.

SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS

Michigan Wellbeing was founded with our namesake at the center, the wellbeing of those who call Michigan home. We deeply understand the challenges our community faces and have made it our life’s work to support you, our neighbors and friends.

PERSONAL Connection

Healing happens in relationship. We believe that a strong, attuned therapeutic bond can be as transformative as the techniques themselves. Every client deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported.

We’re in this together.
