About Christy Stiles, MSW, LLMSW

Therapist For Children & Families | Adoption, Foster & Kinship Care | Neurodiversity

Christy Stiles, LLMSW, works with children, adolescents, adults, and families who may be feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, stuck, or unsure of what comes next. Through Michigan Wellbeing, Christy provides virtual therapy to clients across Michigan. She supports clients navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional and behavioral challenges, neurodivergence, difficult life transitions, and complex family dynamics. Christy has a particular passion for working with individuals and families impacted by ADHD, autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), adoption, foster care, and kinship care. Her goal is to create a space where clients feel genuinely understood while developing practical strategies that can make a meaningful difference in everyday life.

Christy’s therapeutic style is warm, authentic, collaborative, and strengths-based. She believes behavior and emotional struggles rarely tell the whole story and works to understand the individual as a whole: their experiences, relationships, environment, strengths, and the systems surrounding them. Her approach is trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming, and she does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

Before entering outpatient therapy, Christy spent several years working directly with families as a Parent Support Partner in community mental health. That experience continues to shape her clinical work and gives her a strong appreciation for the challenges families may face when navigating schools, mental health services, child welfare, and other complex systems.

In addition to her therapy work, Christy is involved in statewide efforts to strengthen adoption-competent mental health care through Michigan’s work with the National Center for Adoption Competent Mental Health Services. She also serves as Board President of Lift Up Network, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families throughout Allegan County.

Areas of Expertise:

  • ADHD, Autism & Neurodivergence

  • Fetal Alchohol Symptom Disorder (FASD)

  • Adoption & Permanency

  • Foster Care & Kinship Care

  • Trauma & Anxiety

  • Emotional & Behavioral Challenges

  • Parent & Caregiver Support

  • Family Relationships & Dynamics

When working with children and adolescents, Christy looks beyond behavior to understand the experiences, relationships, strengths, and needs shaping what each young person may be communicating.

Christy enjoys helping young clients build emotional awareness and regulation skills while partnering with parents and caregivers to strengthen connection, better understand their child’s needs, and develop realistic strategies that can be used at home and in everyday situations. With adults, Christy provides a supportive, judgment-free space to explore stress, relationships, past experiences, life transitions, and patterns that may be making it difficult to feel grounded or move forward.

Christy earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Grand Valley State University and her Master of Social Work from Spring Arbor University. Her areas of expertise include trauma-informed care, neurodiversity-affirming practice, FASD, adoption and permanency, foster and kinship care, parent and caregiver support, emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, and strengthening family relationships. Adoption- and permanency-competent care is an especially meaningful area of focus in her continued professional development.

Above all, Christy believes therapy works best when people feel understood rather than judged. She approaches her work with compassion, curiosity, humor, and the belief that clients deserve a space where they can show up as themselves while working toward the life and relationships they want.
