About Matt Nieto, LLPC

Trauma-Informed Care | Person-Centered Therapy | Men's Mental Health

Matt believes that meaningful change begins with feeling genuinely understood. He works collaboratively with adolescents and adults to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore life's challenges, build on their strengths, and develop practical skills for meaningful growth. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, or difficulty finding meaning, Matt strives to help clients better understand themselves while moving toward sustainable growth.

Matt earned his Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. His therapeutic approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from Person-Centered Therapy, Logotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and strengths-based principles. He believes every client brings their own unique experiences, strengths, and perspective, and therapy should be tailored to each person's individual goals and needs.

While Matt welcomes clients of all backgrounds, he has a particular passion for supporting individuals navigating anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, relationships, emotional expression, difficult life transitions, and questions of purpose and meaning. He has a special interest in helping men who may struggle with feeling understood or expressing what they are experiencing. He understands that asking for help can be difficult, especially for individuals who have spent years believing they needed to handle everything on their own. His goal is to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to explore difficult experiences, and encouraged to make meaningful changes.

He enjoys helping clients recognize patterns that may be keeping them stuck while teaching evidence-based strategies for emotional regulation, communication, resilience, and healthier relationships. He believes that lasting progress comes not only from gaining insight into our experiences, but also from taking intentional steps toward living a life that feels meaningful and aligned with who we are.

Above all, Matt is committed to meeting clients where they are and helping them build the confidence, resilience, and skills needed to create a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. Matt believes meaningful change begins with feeling understood, supported, and empowered.
