About Vrinda Mot, MA, TLLP

Therapist for Children, Teens & Families | ADHD & Neurodiversity | Behavioral Intervention

Vrinda Mot, MA, TLLP, therapist at Michigan Wellbeing Therapy Clinic.

Vrinda Mot, MA, TLLP, provides therapy for children, teens, adults, parents, and families all across Michigan, specializing in ADHD, neurodiversity, neurodevelopmental differences, behavioral concerns, parent-child relationships and family work. She brings particular attention to complex child and adolescent needs, especially when behavior, attention, developmental differences, school demands, and family dynamics intersect.

She believes that behavior is communication and that meaningful change begins when children and teens feel understood and parents feel supported. Her integrative style brings humanistic and behavioral perspectives together, considering emotions, communication, relationships, and lived experience as she helps clients make sense of what is happening and develop practical ways to respond. With adults and parents seeking therapy for themselves, she brings the same collaborative attention to personal concerns, family dynamics, and the changes they hope to make.

Her clinical background includes training at the University of Michigan’s University Center for the Child and Family, where she provided individual therapy and behavioral interventions, developed individualized treatment plans, and participated in standardized assessment within a supervised setting. Working alongside psychologists, behavior analysts, and behavior technicians gave her experience connecting assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical discussion. That experience informs her attention to each child’s developmental needs and to coordinated care among the people supporting them.

Vrinda earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis from the Michigan School of Psychology, following a postgraduate diploma in Counseling Psychology from Amity University in India. Her earlier training in New Delhi included counseling and psychiatric placements, intake interviews, clinical case histories, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Together, her training in India and the United States brings a culturally responsive perspective to the experiences, expectations, and resources that shape each person’s care.

Understanding behavior and strengthening relationships are connected parts of care. Vrinda supports children and teens as individuals while helping parents and families participate meaningfully in the work.

Vrinda’s work is informed by a family systems approach, which considers how communication, expectations, relationships, and everyday routines interact with emotional and behavioral needs. She draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Family Systems, and function-based behavioral work. In keeping with Michigan Wellbeing’s integrative approach, these methods connect reflection and self-understanding with practical strategies, adapted to each client’s development, strengths, relationships, and goals.

In her child and teen work, regular parent or caregiver sessions are part of the treatment process, with the frequency and focus shaped around the young person’s needs. These sessions give parents room to share observations, understand patterns, and develop ways to support communication, emotional regulation, and workable routines at home. When useful, care may also include joint parent-child sessions or family sessions to work directly on relationships and shared concerns. The arrangement is discussed collaboratively, with clear expectations about privacy and the young person’s space to build trust in therapy.

Throughout this process, children and teens have a real voice in their care: their choices matter, their agreement is sought, and goals are set with them. Parents are supported as partners as they navigate uncertainty and put new approaches into practice. Offering therapy in English and Hindi, Vrinda welcomes conversation about culture, family expectations, and the values that shape each household. Her aim is to help clients build greater understanding, stronger relationships, and practical skills they can continue to use as their lives evolve.
