Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health Therapy: Compassionate Support for Every Stage of Motherhood

Take Control of Your & Your Child’s Wellbeing.

Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are some of the most profound transitions a person can experience. While these stages can bring immense joy, they can also introduce unexpected emotional challenges—from anxiety and depression to identity shifts, relationship stress, and deep exhaustion. If you’re struggling with the weight of new motherhood or navigating emotional changes during pregnancy, you are not alone.

At Michigan Wellbeing, we provide specialized, compassionate therapy for individuals experiencing perinatal and postpartum mental health challenges. Whether you’re pregnant, newly postpartum, or years into parenthood, our therapy offers a safe, validating space to process emotions, heal from distress, and receive the support you deserve.

The Reality of Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health

The journey into parenthood is often painted as beautiful and fulfilling—but for many, it is also complex, exhausting, and emotionally overwhelming. The mental and physical shifts that occur during pregnancy and postpartum can deeply impact your mood, self-esteem, and sense of stability.

Common experiences include:

  • Postpartum Depression (PPD) – Persistent sadness, guilt, or disconnection from yourself and your baby

  • Perinatal & Postpartum Anxiety (PPA) – Racing thoughts, intrusive worries, or difficulty relaxing

  • Birth Trauma & PTSD – Emotional distress from a difficult or traumatic birth experience

  • Identity Shifts & Emotional Strain – Feeling lost in your new role as a parent

  • Overwhelm, Irritability & Exhaustion – Difficulty coping with the emotional and physical demands of motherhood

  • Relationship Struggles – Changes in intimacy, communication, or parenting conflicts

  • Guilt & Perfectionism – Feeling like you’re failing, even when you’re doing your best

What To Expect From Therapy at Michigan Wellbeing

  • A Thoughtful, Individualized Approach – Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. We take the time to understand your experiences, your history, and the ways you relate to yourself and others.

  • A Whole-Person Perspective – We integrate relational therapy, somatic work, self-regulation techniques, and evidence-based interventions to address challenges from multiple angles.

  • Practical Tools for Everyday Life – Therapy is not just about insight—it’s about gaining the tools and strategies to navigate emotions, relationships, and daily life with confidence.

  • Deep, Root-Cause Healing – Instead of just managing symptoms, we work to understand and shift underlying patterns so that real, lasting change can happen.

  • A Flexible, Evolving Process – As you grow, your therapy evolves with you. We adjust the approach based on what’s working, ensuring that each session remains impactful and aligned with your needs.

💡Therapy is about more than just coping—it’s about building a stronger, more resilient, and more connected version of yourself. Whatever challenges you’re facing, we are here to help you move through them with care, expertise, and a truly integrative approach to healing.
